My college English professor suggested we reread Anna Karenina every decade as we would have empathy with a different character or couple during each stage of our lives. The book is really about relationships and marriage evolving over time. My vision of my garden plan keeps evolving every season. My poor husband can testify the this as he groans "Oh no, do we have to move more plants again?". I tried to frame the views from the windows of the house but what a difference now compared to how I first intended. I always liked the idea of looking out into a garden instead of looking past foundation plantings onto strips of grass. I suppose this is sort of like living in a rolling meadow compared to a fort. My neighbors have commented on how they like the new views also. If only this would give them ideas to do the same. In the meantime, I try to frame my view away from the messy deck next door and onto the long view of the trees two lots away. I suppose my views will continue to change over time.
