Dangerous Corner

So it's winter and I am stuck inside with my nose pressed against the glass, looking at the 'bones' of the garden. This is when the design of the yard really becomes apparent. And obviously from the picture here, it just isn't fitting the bill in the corner of the yard. Big. Blue. House. The view is from the family room and the master bedroom so I get to look at this quite often. The neighbors do not take any of the furniture off of the deck (nor do they use it) and we are left with not much to look at. And don't forget those lovely utility boxes. I added the arborvitaes two years ago and am waiting for them to reach the 15 feet they promised. The honey locust looks rather like a stick in the ground right now in its first season. After looking at this daily since Thanksgiving, I have decided to move the two back raised beds further forward and plants some screening plants. My picks are a large grass and a conifer. I've been doing the research at the library but of course, the local nursery offerings this spring will decide the two plants. The bed will extend and meet the other side bed. Lucky husband; he will have less grass to cut this summer.
