The Green Mile


This past weekend we visited my brother down South. He wins 'Best Backyard' in the family for this greenway that runs behind his house in North Augusta. This 12 mile walk and bike path runs from the suburbs to the Savannah River. I'm very envious. Also jealous of my sister-in-laws gardenias that were blooming as below.
We also hit the North Carolina Arboretum outside of Asheville. The outdoor bonsai garden was particularly impressive as are these photos the husband took.

I like how that one photo of a garden is like a patchwork quilt. My mom's a fan of making quilts out of triangles and squares. They're pretty easy to whip together. Patchwork gardens, on the other hand, that probably takes an inordinate amount of maintaining!

Yes, that is a picture of the newly planted herb quilt garden. It should be pretty impressive in a month or so. It is about 40x40 feet.
